4 Must Have Slider Phones of 2007







Back when I was still in high school, I used to borrow my mum’s phone when I went out with my buddies. It was cool at that time to hang on to a Motorola MicroTAC mobile phone. Here’s a picture of it.

Seeing it again tickled me. The weight of the thing feels like having a dictionary in your pockets. Unimaginable but hey, things change. Now we can watch videos, listen to songs, record videos, snap pictures and even read our emails from our mobile. The weight gets lighter as the shape gets slimmer and the features just keeps coming in.

Below are 4 slide mobile phones that I consider a must-have for me (that is if I had the money). The pictures alone are tempting enough to make my mouth water.

Look at that beauty. It’s so attractive. This piece will make anyone look sexy with no effort needed. The LG Shine was both announced and launched in January 2007. I believe it stunned mobile enthusiasts world wide when the first pictures of it were published. Anyway, here are some of Shine’s specifications.

Here’s another cool slider by Motorola. The Rizr Z6 has a Linux OS built into it that enables you to do instant messaging with your friends on Yahoo! and MSN. The special thing about the Rizr Z6 is the long life battery stand by time of 400 hours. That is like more than 2 weeks! Amazing stuff! Made for people who talk a lot.

20 Vista Features Worth Mentioning







Vista was launched worldwide on 30th January 2007, ready for downloading and purchasing in Microsoft’s web site. According to the website, Microsoft has added hundreds of new features to the product. I have identified 20 features that I find interesting. Here they are :

1. Windows Aero

Stands for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective and Open. It’s a hardware based graphical user interface that is clean and aesthetically pleasing which introduces a new type of transparency, live thumbnails, animations and eye candy.

2. Windows Shell

A new way of organizing, navigating and searching compared to Windows XP. Windows Explorer’s task pane has been removed, a ‘favourite links’ pane has been added, address bar replaced with breadcrumb navigation system and the start menu no longer uses expanding list boxes.

3. Windows Search

Significantly faster. Search boxes can be found everywhere, especially in applications that come with Vista. Instant Search indexes common folders, however advanced options allow users to specify the search and indexing criteria.

4. Windows Sidebar

A transparent panel for users to place ‘Desktop Gadgets’.

5. Backup and Restore Center

Schedule periodic file backups automatically. The Complete PC Backup feature backups the entire computer as an image where users are able to automatically recreate machine setup onto a new hardware.
