The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.
The first anime title that I ever saw was Doraemon. I was a kid and I loved it so much that I’ll sit in front of the tv and wait for it every weekday before 5pm. Later on, came Dragonball Z and the series blew me away. I even have a collection of DBZ manga on one of my shelves. Then came Naruto. Then came Bleach. Then came Death Note. Sometimes when I’m free, I’ll check out other anime titles from around the web and watch them.
Along the way, I found many, many useful sites which I think some of you anime fans are also familiar with. Below are 10 of the best sites to find, watch and download anime. Check out the ones you have not checked out before.
May you be an anime addict by the end of the post. =)

Tons of animes. Either watch it online or download directly. Registration required. Find not only anime but also games, music and Japanese dramas. Feels a bit youtube-like to me. Neat and screenshots are provided for each and every anime series. Very well organized. Check it out for yourself.

Anime is the Japanese contraction and pronunciation of the English word animation. Suki means like or love in Japanese. AnimeSuki has been providing unlicensed subbed anime torrents since 26th December 2002. The links found on AnimeSuki are actually linked to trackers all over the web and is one of the top sites for unlicensed anime torrent links.
Most groups use Scarywater, EdwardK or AniRena as their tracker. They don’t track sexually explicit porn like hentai but they have the lightweight ecchi which also means pervert in Japanese. When an anime title gets licensed by an American company, it is instantly removed from the site. Check out their licensed list for the titles that have been removed.

Another huge source of full anime torrents. Only users who signed up are allowed to use the site. It’s free and it’s fast. Users are divided into 5 different groups.
Normal user, can choose to view hentai.
Higher user, can view peer lists and report bad torrents or comments.
Same as normal user except permission has been given to add new torrents. Ask in the Forums if you wish to contribute content.
Same as power user but with upload rights.
Appointed by Admins. Don’t ask about becoming one.

Has nearly 900 anime episodes and users watch streaming anime episodes online. Something like youtube. Updates to the latest anime episodes of Naruto, Bleach and Death Note is written at the top, below the logo. Good for watching anime episodes in the office and while traveling. =P

Though you can use a download manager, there are 2 limits I noticed.
Anyways, this site is by far one of the best. You can either watch online or start a quick download. However, you’ll need to register first before downloading. All anime episodes are either in .avi, .ogm or .mkv. High quality stuff, actually. They really seem to have everything.

Episodes are in rmvb format and the limit set is 2 episodes per download. Most of the anime listed have a download size of about 70MB. Some are also English dubbed. Decent selections. Soundtracks can also be found. At the time of viewing, they almost 18, 000 chapters of manga in their library. Huge indeed.
A note to the webmaster. The boxy fonts of the logo at the top is hardly readable. Here’s a suggestion. You might wanna check out Alex’s Web 2.0 logo generator. Cool, simple and easy to use.

Mother of all video sharing sites. Time magazine’s ‘Invention Of The Year 2006′. No registration required. All you need to do is just search and it will be found. Not much introduction needed, actually. =)

Extensive collection of anime. Files are hosted in the site’s server. Excellent video and audio quality as the files are in .avi format. It’s actually good.
Note to webmaster : Can’t find your FAQ page. Nor is there an “About” page.

One of the oldest “Realmedia Anime hosted on Free Hosts” sites. They offer anime in Realmedia format uploaded to free Hosts like MegaUpload and MediaFire. Started back in December 2005 as a graphics site but was closed a few weeks later. In February 2006 the site re-opened under the name Anime-Sensei and started hosting Realmedia Anime on Free Hosts.

A growing site for fansub groups, scanlation providers to share out their work using a phpBB3 torrent tracker. There are a total of 130 fansub groups at the time of writing. I think they could improve on writing an ‘About Us’ page to tell interested visitors more about their site like when they started, what’s the statistics so far, progress, notable fansub groups using it, etc.

Baka-Updates is a free service by your fellow anime fans. This site focuses on updates and news about the most recent anime releases by the digital fansubbing groups.

Contains a huge collection of fansubs, raws, soundtracks, hentai, etc. Pretty fast and simple interface.

GREAT!!! THANK YOU!!!!
If you love anime and want to watch some for free then goto “Animefe.com”. There you will find tons of episode of anime. Also you can download the anime and share it with your friends. The site is “http://www.Animefe.com”.
well u can also check out http://www.veoh.com also sometimes i think its better than crunchyroll
or guba.com is alright just rly slow to me
You can also use AniRena Torrent Tracker. ( http://tracker.anirena.com/ )
Most fansub groups, scanlation providers, and raw providers use more and more the AniRena Networks tracker.
Maybe this thread could be looked at better as I’m a indirect and direct the same as BoxTorrents, with the addition that I also host torrents for Fansub groups, and not only unlicensed anime. fyi.

AnimeSuki is quite kewl…
I’m really suprised that baka-updates isn’t in there for new anime epsiode torrents it is by far the best
OMG! XD thanks sooo much for the sites! and if you are an anime fan and the current site you are using is too slow then go to http://www.anime6.org
With loading bleach it is really fast! and i’m using an old laptop! it has LOADS of anime! thats http://www.anime6.org.
i thought crunchyroll wasn’t very good coz they didn’t have full episodes for many of the series i wanted…….they only had ova’s and the openings and endings.
Another site that has over 100+ anime series and also a community where you can chat, create a profile, a friend list and more. The url is http://www.theanimewatch.com. Enjoy!
wow, loved your top sites. here are another one: http://www.getaio.com
Thanks, for the list.
it’s really helpfull
IMO da-anime should be top site
A GOOD SITE FOR DIRECT DOWNLOADS JUST GO TO http://WWW.BLEACHEXILE.COM
Great resources you given to us. Thank a million
I’d argue that Veoh.com ’s anime selection is far superior to YouTube. The quality’s better too.
YouTube quality kind of sucks though.
I prefer direct download sites myself, torrents are too much of a hassle, besides, it’s impossible to find old or rare series, only the popular crap.
actually, realitylapse.com isn’t limited to two downloads. it is limited to two downloads per server, e.g. alpha, beta etc. i have downloaded about 16 files simultaneously from them before.
can anyone please help me wit ha website which has direct download of anime and dont send to any file hostering website?
here are another good one with direct anime download : http://www.animejockey.com
mosts those sites are not download sites, some are dead, some cost money, animeviewer is nothing like youtube, it merely is a site with embedded videos on it, nothing special about it…
a good actual download site would be
http://www.moeotaku.com
daanime is just megaupload links and realitylapse has crappy quality rmvb reencodes
only three of those sites mentioned were worth mentioning; animesuki, anime-eden, boxtorrents.
http://www.anime-sensei.net/
Excellent site for anime downloads
(Otaku) moeotaku is ood indeed. It’s been added to the list.
(Sensei) thanks. added.
@Chris:
Why is AniRena not listed yet, but other tracker sites are ?
“Firefox can’t find the server at http://www.moeotaku.com.”
“Firefox can’t find the server at http://www.animeyume.org.”
Two out of the three I had an interest in on your list that I wasn’t already using (i.e. Boxtorrents)
(Power2All) AniRena lacks information about itself. Anyways, i’ve just added it to the list. I hope it grows in time to come.
(Devon Null) I don’t understand what you are saying?
kewl…TY ALOT!!!
@Chris:
It doesn’t.
Its a torrent tracker builded in phpBB3.
Used by 130 fansub groups at the moment.
And it has around 20 million hits per month.
Information enough ?
Oh, and I am working on a FAQ page atm, just very busy in real life ^^
@Chris = Power2All xD
Also, nice blog
(Power2All) Got it. Will be waiting on your FAQ page. Till then, have a nice day.
What?! No http://www.animenewsnetwork.com ?
(Gary) Isn’t that a newsportal?
I’m surprised TokyoTosho isn’t on this, or Baka-Updates. All fansub releases, plus raws, non-english, etc. are all added to TT by themselves or their distro people.
http://www.tokyotosho.com/
Baka-Updates is updated by fans, so it’s slightly slower to update, but it’s a very good collection.
http://www.baka-updates.com/
And it seems that AnimeYuMe is, and will be, down for a good while.
Also, BoxTorrents has had an updated skin for quite a while now. Perhaps it’s best to update the screenshot for it (and all the rest)?
Nice sites. I know almost all of them, I just NEED to add a correction.
It’s about AnimeYume (not AnimeYuMe)
Yume is 1 whole japanese word and it means dream. So the translation is Anime Dream.
It irritated me (^_~)
(Southrop) Thanks for the info! Both added.
(D*Angel) Corrected.
to anyone who posted these websites.. i have a correction to make here..
I’m connecting from MAlaysia.. and uhh.. ani down and da anime seems to be closed.
(Wayne) Thanks for the heads up.
One of my new favorite sites is Anime Lime. They do not have download links, but stream various series online through other services (Sadly some Megavideo links too). To me, it’s so far proven to be an excellent site with quite an amount of anime to choose from.
http://www.animelime.com/
You can remove CrunchyRoll.
They do nothing with anime torrents and direct downloads.
They’re just a streaming site and removed all fansub related stuff of their system.
They are even cooperating with BayTSP.
Another update.
BoxTorrents is no-more.
It’s renamed to BakaBT.
Another update.
AnimeViewer, it’s a streaming site only.
You say Anime “TORRENT AND DIRECT DOWNLOAD” sites.
Streaming-only sites don’t fall under that.
Another update.
Reality Laps: It has now a option to download AVI files.
So not only RMVB.
Another update.
Again, Youtube is not sharing anything, except for streams.
There is no torrent download or direct download option on youtube, so this is actually miss-information.
Another update.
MoeOtaku is down cause of no cash-flow.
Oh jesus god damn christ..
Seriously? You put 2 of the worst choices you could ever give like crunchyroll and youtube on a list like this?
About the only 2 worth a damn are AnimeSuki and Baka Updates. Hell, boxtorrents has been a garbage dump for years like most public “archival rather then new torrent listings” ones.
Good private ones like bakabt have murdered crap ones like boxtorrents, nyaatorrents,
God, this guys just a random idiot with a blog, move along..
